The Movement Experience doctors of physical therapy are certified in dry needling. Dry needling is a passive rehabilitation tool that can help improve tissue tightness, pain response, and provide pain reduction by inserting thin monofilament needles (acupuncture needles) into painful and/or restricted tissues. Our therapists often utilize dry needling as an adjunct to our individual physical therapy treatments in order to assist in tissue healing and recovery.

At The Movement Experience, our doctors of physical therapy will perform a comprehensive assessment to determine the presence of any mobility and/or flexibility restrictions. They will use this information to develop a stretch therapy program that is specific to you and your goals.


Compression Boot Recovery

Normatec compression therapy is a leading tool for performance recovery in professional and recreational athletes. The intermittent pneumatic compression helps to improve muscle tissue oxygenation, circulation, and lactic acid clearance to improve recovery times. Dr. Mariah earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from South College of Knoxville in 2024 and is a 2018 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A bilingual practitioner fluent in Spanish, she has cultivated a strong foundation in movement analysis through her three years of experience as an aerial fitness instructor in Atlanta, along with a background in dance and cheerleading. Mariah is passionate about helping athletes and performing artists optimize their performance and recover from injuries, with plans to specialize in orthopedics, sports, and performing arts physical therapy.

Alexa Preyer, PT, DPT received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in 2014. She is certified in dry needling, and she has been trained in spinal manipulation and the treatment of the pelvic floor as well.
